Calculators

Exact answers, and the arithmetic behind them.

Every calculator here states how it computes and what each figure is derived from. No making charge, wastage, tax rate or dealer margin is assumed for any market — those are yours to enter, and a blank field contributes nothing.

Where a calculator offers Platform Reference pricing, it reads a verified Gold or Silver reference automatically; everywhere else, or when none is available right now, it asks you for a price and says so. Nothing here invents a market figure.

Gold Price & Conversion

A live calculated reference for any market and any weight, plus fixed-unit and by-purity views. Every figure below reads the same verified Gold observation — nothing here is fetched twice.

Gold Price by Purity

Unavailable

Enter a weight to see the calculated value.

Metal value

Turn a price and a weight into a value, and take a jeweller's or a scrap buyer's figure apart line by line.

Not yet built: Gold Value Calculator, Silver Value Calculator. The arithmetic for these exists and is tested; the interface does not, so they are named here rather than linked to an empty page.

Jewellery Value Calculator

UnavailableChecking the platform reference…

Break a jewellery price into fine metal, wastage, making charge, dealer margin and tax — every charge entered by you.

Metal
Charges — all optional, all yours

Leave any field blank and it contributes nothing. This platform has no assumed making charge, wastage or tax rate for any market.

Applied to the fine metal value

Applied to the fine metal value

Flat amount, no percentage base

Applied to the subtotal before margin

Applied to the subtotal before tax

Checking the platform reference price… Nothing is estimated in its place.

How this is calculated

Fine metal value is your price multiplied by the fine-metal weight of the piece, with the purity fraction applied first and any unit difference converted exactly. Charges are then applied in a fixed order, each on a stated base: wastage and making on the fine metal value, dealer margin on the subtotal after those, and tax on everything before it. Every subtotal is shown so you can reconcile against your own invoice.
Dealers differ in the order they apply charges, so a total here may not match a specific shop's bill even with identical percentages. Every charge is a figure you entered — none is assumed, estimated, or sourced from any market.

Scrap Gold / Silver Calculator

UnavailableChecking the platform reference…

Estimate what a buyer would pay for scrap, after the deduction and refining fee you specify.

Buyer's deductions — optional, and yours

How far below metal value they pay

Flat amount, subtracted after the deduction

Checking the platform reference price… Nothing is estimated in its place.

How this is calculated

Fine metal value is your price multiplied by the fine-metal weight, with the purity applied first. The buyer's percentage deduction comes off that value, then the flat refining fee. If the two together exceed the metal value the result is shown as a shortfall — the arithmetic is never clamped to zero.
This is arithmetic on your assumptions, not a quote. What a buyer actually pays depends on that buyer. No deduction, fee or margin is assumed by this platform.

Conversions

Deterministic conversions that need no market data at all — they work today and would work with every provider offline.

Not yet built: FX Converter. The arithmetic for these exists and is tested; the interface does not, so they are named here rather than linked to an empty page.

Unit Price Matrix

Manual inputDerived from the price you entered

Turn one price into the full grid: 1 g, 10 g, 1 tola, 1 troy ounce and 1 kg, at 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K.

Wholesale quotes are normally 24K. Set this to match the price you entered — treating a 22K price as 24K would skew every figure below.

Enter a price to build the grid.

How this is calculated

The entered price is divided by its own purity fraction to get a pure-metal price, converted into each quantity using the exact gram factors (1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 g; 1 tola = 11.6638038 g, exactly three eighths of a troy ounce), then multiplied by each purity fraction. Every step is exact decimal arithmetic.
These are conversions of your figure, not market prices. Retail prices additionally carry making charges, margins and taxes — see the Jewellery Value calculator for those.

Buying and selling

What a spread costs you, what a holding has done, and what it really cost.

Profit / Loss Calculator

Manual inputYour cost and your current value

Compare what you paid with what a holding is worth now, in absolute terms, as a percentage, and annualised where the period allows.

Enter it yourself — no platform price is available

Annualised only from 12 months

Enter your total cost and the current value. The platform has no current metal price to fill this in for you.

How this is calculated

Change is current value minus total cost, and the percentage is that change over the cost. Annualisation is withheld below twelve months: annualising a two-month gain produces a headline rate nobody has actually earned.

Average Cost Calculator

Manual inputYour purchase history

Work out the weighted average cost across several purchases — not the average of the prices, which understates it.

Enter at least one lot with a quantity and a price.

How this is calculated

Weighted average cost is total cost divided by total quantity. That is the figure that matters, and it is not the average of the prices you paid: 1 unit at 100 plus 9 at 200 gives a weighted average of 190, while the mean of the two prices is 150. Both are shown so the gap is visible.

CAGR / Return Calculator

Manual inputYour figures, your period

Total and compound annual return between two values over a period you specify. Withheld under a year, where annualising misleads.

Enter a start value, an end value and a period in months.

How this is calculated

Total return is the change over the start value. CAGR is (end ÷ start) raised to the power of one over the number of years, minus one. It is withheld below twelve months, where annualising a short move implies a rate nobody earned, and where the end value is zero, for which no compound rate exists.

Buy / Sell Spread Calculator

Manual inputTwo prices you entered

See the gap between what a dealer sells at and buys back at, expressed against the buy, the sell and the mid.

What you pay to buy

What you receive when selling

Enter both prices to see the spread.

How this is calculated

Spread is the buy price minus the sell price. The percentage is shown against all three bases the bullion trade uses — the buy, the sell and the mid — because they give different numbers for the same pair and quoting only one would be an editorial choice.

Intelligence and scenarios

Comparisons drawn from the verified historical record, and scenarios built on a price you choose.

Not yet built: Gold vs Silver Return Calculator, Gold / Silver Ratio Calculator, Dealer Quote Breakdown. The arithmetic for these exists and is tested; the interface does not, so they are named here rather than linked to an empty page.

What-If Price Calculator

Manual inputScenario — not a forecast

A scenario, not a forecast: what a holding would be worth at a price you choose. No model, no trend, no probability.

Enter it yourself — no platform price is available

Enter a quantity, a current price and a price to test.

How this is calculated

Value is quantity multiplied by price, computed at both the current price you entered and the price you want to test. Value scales linearly with price for a fixed holding, so the value change equals the price change — no leverage, fee or tax is modelled.
The hypothetical price is yours. Nothing here forecasts, and nothing here should be read as a view on where any price is going.

What these are and are not

  • Manual input means the figure came from you. It is not platform market data and no provider verified it.
  • Historical means a stored past observation from the verified World Bank monthly series — never a current or spot price.
  • Calculation means this platform derived it from the values above. Every calculator states its method.
  • A scenario tests a price you chose. It contains no model, no trend and no probability, and it is never labelled a reference figure.
  • Local prices differ from any calculated figure because taxes, import duties, dealer premiums, making charges and spreads apply. This platform does not model those and does not estimate them.
