When no verified observation exists, the page states that honestly rather than showing a placeholder number.

Historical data

World Bank Commodity Price Data ("Pink Sheet"), monthly averages, nominal USD per troy ounce. This is a genuinely different thing from the current reference price above: a monthly average, not a current or spot figure, and never presented as one. A month with no verified observation is left out — never filled in, interpolated, or estimated.
