Macro / Interest Rates

How Gold has historically moved alongside the Federal Funds Rate, the 10-Year Treasury yield, and the 10-Year TIPS real yield — three U.S. interest-rate series published monthly by the Federal Reserve, retrieved through FRED. Historical co-movement does not establish causation and does not predict future prices.

Choose a period

Each panel below shows the widest window this period allows for that specific comparison — a range never extends further back than the two series' own real, comparable history, and no month is ever forward-filled, interpolated, or estimated.

Licence: Public Domain: Citation Requested. FRED's own series page for this series defers to the shared H.15 Statistical Release and Treasury Yield Curve Methodology, rather than restating that exact phrase — both are nonetheless monthly, institution-published figures, computed by the Board rather than by this platform. Observations shown: 284 · Jan 2003 Aug 2026.

Every figure on this page compares monthly period averages against a monthly published rate or yield level. Nothing here is a live, current, or spot value. A month with no verified observation on either side is counted and left out — never forward-filled from a neighbouring month, never interpolated, never recorded as zero. Each chart breaks its line across a gap rather than drawing through it. A change in a rate or yield is always reported in PERCENTAGE POINTS (e.g. "4.25% → 5.25%, change: +1.00 percentage point"), never as a relative percent — the two are not the same figure. These series are shown together for historical context only; historical co-movement does not establish causation and does not predict future prices.
